from my experience, I feel like linux wasn't originally meant to be for everyone. People have tried to do that, and some fairly well, but unless something dramatically changes it will never be a "plug and play" thing (e.g. big companies like adobe developing their software for it).

if you instead enjoyed that time, would you still say it's "too long"?

me when I'm the only one maintaining a project other than the occasional PR because the other maintainers stopped and its the only option in a community to do things unless you want to use a fork that is only on 2 versions
