Our criticism of this must go above the Coast Guard leadership to the Pentagon, where these changes originated. Hegseth attacked the anti-harassment policies as divisive and a lowering of combat readiness. He wants the policies softened or ended. That is where the criticism must be directed.

When the Coast Guard policies came to light last month, the Coast Guard said these changes were made to align with the other services. Note that the other services were ordered by Hegseth to review and soften their policies on these same matters. The CG is following, not leading these changes.
