@moira I don't remember my feelings about those, but I expect you are correct.

@moira oh, maybe that's my problem with pears... cause I've never tried one with an acceptable texture. Always found them too mushy. But I enjoy pear /flavored/ things.

@moira I'm suddenly really missing the gigantic Fujis from Waji's. And just Waji's in general. Le sigh. Only really good part of that year of my time at Amazon, was being across the street.

@moira and I should clarify, mealy/crisp is a spectrum, and Lemonade are merely farther from one extreme than I usually go. While, say, Red Delicious is well across the line.

@moira usually my feeling too.. anything softer than a Fuji. But while I wouldn't put ANY effort into obtaining them, Lemonades are a cromulent option once a year or so. If I'd timed it better, I bet they would have been perfect when my teeth were bugging me earlier this week.

@moira if I bought them more often I'd probably be used to it, but I don't. I just happened to get a few varieties I don't buy very often this grocery order.

Lemonade are also inoffensive. Mealier than I'd prefer, maybe a little bland, but somehow it works.

@jenk3.bsky.social Been several years for me too. It's more the smell I think of as preservative (or maybe carrier?) for injectables. I tend to get a lot of those in ICU.

@moira well, not-pleasant might be more accurate. Specifically I'm thinking of the smell I think of as being medication preservatives, but may also be disinfectant.

And, to be fair, it's been a few years since I was last in ICU.

Anyway, the apples aren't /bad/, I quite like the texture, but […]
