Fair enough, yep, I agree that they already use the more specific terms. I guess what I mean is that they should carry on using the more specific terms even when communicating with non-specialists as much as possible (they may well already do this and it gets reduced to "AI" anyway...)

It's probably wise for computer scientists etc to pick other terms to use for non LLM-based modeling and machine learning technologies just to avoid this conflation.

But it was the will of the people that could not under any circumstances be challenged or even analysed, even in the face of overwhelming evidence from economists etc. There's no chance that these media orgs will question their own approach to reality is there?

Especially because they're off their heads on cheese

That's the bit that so many people choose to miss about lower speed limits. As in this case, people already "price in" 10-15 km/h over the limit as being broadly acceptable (including, to an extent, people within within the system), so a 50 limit really means 60+.

I'd have thought it might be contempt of court, but if he wasn't actually called then I don't know if that's the case

Yep, preferably with sparks flying out as well

I am agog at this. How did this happen? Presumably they horse-traded something else to get this bung for dairy producers (that the rest of us pay for in poisoned rivers)

What make me angry is the predominant framing of government and a lot of media reporting that this is a "deal" that's been negotiated hard and that the interests of the people who want it are the same as those of the people as a whole. Whereas, like you say, it's the rest of us that suffer.

Thing is, if you hadn't written it I'd probably be just as annoyed but in a less tangible and educated way :)

Joking aside, I'm really glad you wrote it and it's a really easy read for such consequential subject matter

The main objection I have is that it seems to move along the pavement in a way that makes pedestrians feel they have to get out of the way and step into the road. It doesn't have any of the eye contact/body language abilities that humans do so it's a vehicle but one that can't go on the road.

An excellent idea

I wonder if she asked about elf insurance? Sorry...

From a purely sci-fi fan perspective I'd like to think that it would call a drone or one of those scary robot dogs things to deal with its tormentors.

It's not even like he's trying to make me annoyed :) It's a very balanced and carefully written book - it's just that the facts themselves are so damning...

What happens if some people just stand in front of it?

Oh no, don't harm the appeal of gilts

Started reading "The Lie of the Land". It's slow going, not because it's hard to read (it's really well written!) but because I need to calm down after every few pages....

He was quoted recently somewhere else offering opinions about slow drivers. Again, fine for car guy to have opinions, but why not get someone on instead who can talk about the data in terms of speeding - risk of crashes, actual time saved by driving fast etc etc
