You want the good news first? Trump’s approval rating is falling into unknown territory. The bad news is he’s taking your 401(k) down with him. My latest.

I talk with my friend Michael Schaffer about the endangered Wilbur J. Cohen Federal Building, “the Sistine Chapel of the New Deal,” with murals by Ben Shahn, Philip Guston, and others. Trump wants to sell it, and a buyer would likely demolish it.

Aristopopulism is the new term Trumpies use to describe their revolutionary struggle against the rule of law, the regulatory state, the separation of powers, the canons of ethics, and anything else that inconveniences the rich. My latest.

Eyes as blue as the flame
Shedding tears for a rose:
Sights that wrench a girl’s heart
Like whale juice stings the nose

His love, so insatiable
Complex and dark
More perplexing by far
Than roadkill in a park

He promised a baby,
A bullet--no pain--
A future as long
As the worm in his brain.

What we know for sure is that the “news” in yesterday’s email dump wasn’t that Trump knew about Epstein’s activities, as the coverage claims. We knew that before—because Trump said so! The NEWS is the “dog that hasn’t barked” email, a piece of this jigsaw puzzle that doesn’t fit the others.
Still waiting for a plausible explanation for what the Epstein victim mentioned in Epstein’s “dog that hasn’t barked” email who “spent hours at my house with him” could have been doing with Donald Trump. Republicans say it was Virginia Giuffre, who’s on record absolving Trump. This doesn’t add up.
