One where I definitely had to switch the channel and the back again when watching it on PBS as a youth. Very intense, and as you say, felt extra scary that the Doctor’s choices were “bad”

Red flags for PCs - e.g. “they never talk to anyone”, “I live in the forest alone and know no one”, “I trust no one”, “I don’t believe in the supernatural”, and other “I am building a character that will be very hard to engage” flags.

The King holds a Grand quest and gets teams from all over to come and raid the mountain stronghold full of dragons to stop the leader. High level adventurers to be sure, but fun.

In the Drew Hayes book series “Spells, swords, and stealth” (first book is “NPCs”), the head of a dragon clan in a mountain area finds a piece of an artifact and it drives him mad. He starts raiding every caravan in the area looking for more pieces, even though he’d had a peace treaty.
