I think saying shit like "Nostalgia is the gateway to fascism" or "nerd culture is the gateway to fascism" are profoundly unhelpful statements. Not only are they not meaningfully true (unless we'd like to agree that pot is the gateway to shooting heroin between your toes), they distort perspective.
