For Guild Saga: Vanished Worlds, I went for a wistful and mellow take on my usual earworminess. "Resting Area" features just whistle, women's choir and harp. As this is a Western pixel art RPG with Japanese influences, it's been a cool exercise to straddle that line musically!

Silksong's soundtrack reminds me of the wistful classical inspired work I used to do before I got bitten by the Zelda bug back in 2016 (!). Might be a good avenue to pick up again to complement the Zelda stylings!

What I really appreciate about Mario Kart World's soundtrack is that they essentially treat the music like jazz standards - you get a fantastic opening statement of the theme, and after that they just let their solists rip. Amazing stuff 🥲.

id Software knows how to make a great oldschool shooter, but their change in narrative direction is puzzling.

The Oblivion remaster / visual remake is interesting, and fixes the two biggest reasons why I didn't click with it back in 2006: artstyle and gamefeel. The game has a lot more character now!
