side yards was a fun carnival-like experience held last night in navy yard. i didn't know about it until i got a last second invite from a friend! hope it returns next year.

califia farms holiday nog (almond): smooth. not 100% velvet, but close. like 92%. color is blandish mud but just drink it out of an opaque glass to preserve the illusion.

sweet nog smell & you can actually taste the added nutmeg. overall, a pleaser. 8/10

nice small format grocer recently opened in anacostia. aptly named marion barry ave market & cafe (address 1303).

produce, toiletries, dry goods, frozen, everything you'd expect. a good mix of specialty and basics. plus a cafe with prepared food. bar and tables available to eat at. 🤙🏽

walked across the fdm bridge to try out the new atlas brewery on howard rd se. awesome bridge views and lots of communal tables.

kind of like the navy yard location but with 2x more room to move around plus bonus outdoor space.

trader joe's o'nog (oat): thiCCC. but also somehow slightly watery. weak fragrance. mid mouthfeel but flavor profile is decent. desperate for a dusting of nutmeg or high proof booze. overall very basic. 6/10

navy yard news: looks like the usn has nixed a land swap that would have seen both a new navy museum and new residential and retail space on the waterfront.

each project is now In peril.
