Game designer, forever DM, RPGphile, lover of musicals, painter of minis. Senior Creative Director on the Iron Man project at EA Motive. Opinions my own.
Can confirm that it’s worth playing all the way through Dispatch a second time with different choices. But also that there are some choices I can’t bring myself to make.

TIL that not all tall ginger men in Canada are @ryannorth.ca but they might still wave back at you just to be polite.

In other news, I’ll be wearing my glasses at the airport from now on.

I’m starting to worry I may *never* accomplish my dream of becoming a K-pop idol.

Look, someone has to say it: pomegranate seeds *should* pop like corn when heated, and it’s complete bullshit that they don’t.

Sen. Mark Kelly has released a statement.

"If this is meant to intimidate me and other members of Congress from doing our jobs and holding this administration accountable, it won't work. I've given too much to this country to be silenced by bullies..."

Pre-scheduled power outage in my town tonight. Not good news for the contents of my fridge, but the PERFECT excuse for candlelight reading of my beautiful new Dolmenwood books. :D

Just finished Dispatch. Hot damn, that was great. :)

I’ll need to do at least one more run with very different choices.

My hard copies of MCDM’s Draw Steel arrived this week. Gotta say I’m really pleased with the quality of the print and binding—good stuff!

I have at last defeated Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar, for the SEGA Master System. Those quality-of-life improvements in this version were definitely appreciated but still, the Abyss is no joke.

VERAMOCOR!

This October marked 20 years as a game dev. It has been a wild ride of high highs and heart-rending lows. I’ve met incredible people along the way, some of them my truest friends.

Yet our industry is in unprecedented times, leaving me to wonder if 20 more is viable. I’d like it to be.

Game development is hard. Very hard. But I am so damn proud of what our team is doing.

Thrilled to see that Designers & Dragons: Origins hit its third stretch goal while I slept, for $100,000.

(That means more content for the backer-only preview, The Adventurer's Hoard.)

Thanks for the interest & support. I do my RPG history work because people tell me they like it!

I have long since played all the Ultimas, and even their NES and SNES ports, but somehow I had no idea that they made Ultima IV for the Sega Master System.

It was never released in the US but I’m playing now and wow, it’s a *way* better port than any of the others. Very nicely done.

Keeper is a lovely bit of magic; joyously realised, gently moving (but never mawkishly so), and it sees Double Fine - hardly a studio known to flub its big creative swings - on exceptional form.
