The milestone Paris Agreement was adopted 10 years ago today.

As like-minded partners, Germany and the UK work closely on its implementation, in part with 🇩🇪🇬🇧 projects, such as our joint hydrogen partnership and an upcoming 🇩🇪🇬🇧 electricity interconnector. #GermanClimateAction

This is a huge shame.
Maritime emissions need to be reduced. It has taken years to build proposals to enhance committed clean shipping supporting decarbonisation, ocean health and innovation.
The U.S. has blocked a global fee on shipping emissions as an international maritime meeting ended Friday without adopting new regulations. The world’s largest maritime nations had been deliberating on regulations to move the shipping industry away from fossil fuels.

The amount of global installed renewable power capacity increased by 14% last year (extra 582GW!).

It's not quite on track for the tripling by 2030 that nations agreed at COP28 in Dubia two years ago, but it's pretty damn good.

I was shocked when I first saw these results from standard climate models used in IPCC reports: for high emissions, the Atlantic overturning circulation #AMOC shuts down in all 9 models that ran past 2100, and is well on the way to shutdown by 2100.
Our paper on that is out today.🧵

Key takeaways from Germany's Climate Protection Report 2025:

➡️ greenhouse gas emissions continued to fall in 2024
➡️ if efforts are maintained, 2030 climate target can be met
➡️ further measures needed to reach the goal of greenhouse gas neutrality by 2045. #GermanClimateAction

To maximise benefits of solar, we must tackle grid bottlenecks, streamline planning and prioritise system-friendly operation.
