Born in Britain, raised by humans, taught the myriad secrets of the UK National Curriculum and elevated to the rank of Master of History. A punny guy. He/Him.
And who could forget Snake's ecstatic monologue about the modified 1911 he receives in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater?

...Dammit, now I want that scene in a pantomime.

Just have a Baneblade emerging and retreating behind cover like it's being hidden by Creed's TACTICAL GENIUS, with the other characters always being too slow to turn around and spot it.

I'm bending the rules a little, but if I know you as well as I think, you probably won't complain...

I thought I'd try to psyche myself up for "The War Between the Land and the Sea" by finally watching the only Doctor Who spin-off I haven't seen yet.

...Yeah, I dunno, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I'm not sure if the Incomparable's "Total Party Kill" podcast could ever get Sara Pascoe on an episode, but she HAS played Dungeons and Dragons at least once (on a live-stream for Comic Relief) - and judging by this week's episode of QI, she has the right instincts for the game.

A big "Thank you" to this week's episode of Have I Got News For You; I've saved this screencap for when I eventually get around to playing Nier: Automata.

What's that? Taking an airship to the planet's desolate northern wastes?

Thanks for the reminder; I've been meaning to dig out my old Warhammer novels at some point...

Speaking of James Spader ... well, as far as Things That A Stranger On A Train Shouted At Me goes, "You look just like that Robert California from The Office" turned out to be surprisingly accurate.

I hate to criticise a show like QI, but if I had my hand on the klaxon, I'd have deducted some points from Alan Davies for this.

Not my home, but I know my way to all the Keepers.

Not my government's nuclear weapons disposal facility that secretly doubled as a massive weapons development complex, but I know my way around.

Not my home, but I knew my way around before that storm flattened it.

I just wanted to sit down and watch some Thomas Hardy adaptations ... but alas, they were made by the BBC, so I ended up playing Spot The Time Lords after all.

Working on five of my very favourite episodes had already given Toby Haynes a strong claim to my coveted Best Doctor Who Director award, but THIS might have made his position unassailable.

Literally all of my favourite moments from this game were Jill getting furious.

It might only be a short game, but she was a lot more memorable than [waves vaguely at the majority of video game protagonists, whose names I've long-since forgotten.]

It's taken me 15 years to finally get around to watching Doctor Who Confidential, but at least the mind-staggering revelations are worth the wait.
October 13, 2025 at 5:47 PM
I was about to ask you if the same is true of Amy Pond, but according to Bing's AI that seems unlikely...

Wait, wasn't that Albert Einstein?

Surely the video game Command and Conquer: Red Alert wouldn't have lied to me...

I still think the logo needs an actual hammer, somewhere. To avoid confusion, and whatnot.

...I guess the "H" looks a bit like the head of a thunder hammer?

Skynet and Ultron were AMATEURS.

I'm not sure how many other people enjoy both strategy and wrestling games, but I hope I'm not the only person who played through the WWE 2K25 Showcase and thought about how great Paul Heyman would be as a Command and Conquer villain.

A movie that takes place where I'm from...?

Well, I couldn't think of (or find) any movies set in Shrewsbury, but I do know of one that was filmed there - a 1984 adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
