This is so good! An aging, recovered Hound is immediately compelling, as a protagonist, and god I'm always so desperately in love with mechsploitation that goes this hard on the religion angle

Now that the finale is out, it feels like a good time to say that Mal and Hekate's Call deserve SO much credit for birthing mechsploitation as a space and genre, and especially for demonstrating how open and boundless and creative it can be

God, this is a really gorgeous microjam piece. It really channels the impressionistic, apocalyptic energy of something like Propylene, but with a lot of new and distinctive elements - the sense of predation, the specific flavor of the end of the world, and the ending above all. Stunning

This is the perfect time to hop on The Lingering World, for my money one of the most underrated stories in the space. What Rami is pulling off here is singular and unique, and weaves together some disparate parts of the genre with incredible vision and skill

To be honest I feel a little bit embarassed that Hekate's Call is ending, Steel Jaws is almost over, and other major stories like Myrmidon and Wolfsbane have also ended and meanwhile I'm still just steadily plodding away at WARHOUND lol
