Almost finished the bee update! I spent quite a while working on their movement code so that they can land on flowers and go in and out of the hive. Just got to implement a stinging mechanic and then I'll be done. #gamedev

The bee update is coming along nicely! Already got some basic honey production, harvesting, and simple bee behaviours implemented. It's like being back working on Equilinox! #gamedev

I've been finally getting back to game dev this week after three weeks of video editing for the Gamescom devlogs, and I've treated myself to a fun new feature to work on: bees and honey production!

We gave away most of the 3D prints at Gamescom, but I kept the rest to decorate my office :) I've kept the shirts too of course - I'm sure I'll use them again for future events.

Gamescom last week was absolutely incredible - completely overwhelming and exhausting but I'm so glad I went. It was lovely meeting so many of you! Big thank you to @gamecityhamburg.bsky.social for their support, and a huge thank you to my partner and friends for helping out at the booth! #gamescom

Off to Gamescom tomorrow! Been preparing loads of decoration for the booth and stuff to give away over the last weeks. Also, a friend very kindly printed some 3D models from the game - and they turned out great!

I'll be in the Indie Arena Booth area, hall 10.2. Hope to see some of you there!

One final little feature before Gamescom - edible cookie buffs! You can get these rare items as rewards, and each cookie type has a different effect associated with it. You eat the cookie to activate it, and then have a limited time to make use of the boost. #gamedev #indiegame

It's somewhat overdue, but I finally got round to implementing a tool that allows you to remove and pick up objects from your farm so that you can place them elsewhere. #gamedev

Been working on some final features before Gamescom, like this maple syrup update! You can grow maple trees, extract the sap, and bottle up the syrup.
I also plan on adding an extra evaporation stage to the process, but that will have to wait till after Gamescom now.

I'm excited to announce that I'm going to be exhibiting HomeGrown at Gamescom in Cologne this year! I'll be in the indie arena booth area, so if you're going to Gamescom then do come and say hello, and give HomeGrown a try! #Gamescom #IndieArenaBooth

Working on some new effects for when you harvest your crops, so that the items now fly from the plants into your inventory instead of just appearing there. #gamedev

Almost finished work on on the automation update!
The auto-harvesters harvest the vegetables and store them in a container for you to collect. The auto-planters take seeds from their container and plant them. #gamedev

A bit more Equilinox news - it's currently being featured in the games category at the Athens Digital Arts Festival (April 3rd - 7th): 2025.adaf.gr/artworks-cat...

I made a short showcase video for the event, so I thought I'd share it here as well.

Continuing my work on automation this week with these auto-harvesters. Still a work-in-progress and they don't actually harvest yet, but they're coming along nicely! #gamedev

Moving back to farming gameplay features this week, and I'm starting off with an exciting one - automation! There are going to be a few simple machines that will take some of the farming work off your hands.

First up, sprinklers!

The 8-bit breadboard computer I've been working on over the last few months is almost complete! Here it is running a program that calculates the Fibonacci numbers.

Based on Ben Eater's fantastic Youtube tutorials.

Been doing some modelling for the new "Second Hand Shop" in Homegrown. Trying out a slightly different style of roof in this part of the town - I think I prefer it to the tile roofs.

New devlog video coming this weekend!

Been working on some improvements for the shop UI over the last week or so. Added a couple of new features like category tabs (will be more useful when there are more items!) and unlockable items, as well as doing a few general visual upgrades. #gamedev

Been doing loads of work on the villagers in Homegrown over the last few weeks. Implementing movement, simple animations, a dialogue system, and now I'm working on the models. Still needs further improvement but it's definitely a step up from the old model! #gamedev
