the problem with the way these guys do business - let's call it top down, directive leadership - is that there's no mutual respect or buy in and all they'll get, at best, reluctant compliance.

This, along with "do not follow illegal orders," is quite literally MS101 content. Day one stuff.

I was irritated by the video because it places all the onus on The Troops and not on the DoD OGC telling them that illegal orders are legal orders, or on the civilian leadership giving the orders to begin with.

I failed to consider that there were other audiences for the video

a couple of senators: "don't follow illegal orders. literally nothing has changed, just reminding you of your responsibilities. carry on."

SECDEF: *massive overreach*

Mark Kelly: *watches campaign $$ roll in*

I was also not trying to have sex with anyone, so there are obvious advantages for a bed in that department. regardless, whatever you may sleep on, you should clean that thing very regularly

*isn't* a crime, obviously.
November 24, 2025 at 3:11 PM
it's a simple statement that these crimes, like the systemic rape of young boys or the honor killings of girls and women, are baked into the culture.

Maybe I am viewing these actions through my own cultural lens, but no one will ever convince me that abusing a child is a crime that demands justice
November 24, 2025 at 3:09 PM
not for nothing, this is another reason why I don't understand anarchists and prison abolitionists. having worked in a place with no functional central govt, where people police and govern themselves, it looked like there were lots of crimes happening with no justice or redress for victims
