Subtitles are an underrated art form, I'm bilingual so will check subtitles to see how well they capture nuance, cultural references and play on word jokes that don't work in another language - some barely make the effort, but others are *chef's kiss*

I feel like the brief was 'make it disposable but also make it out of metal'

There's no excuse for poor cutlery design in the 21st century. This is de-evolution in action.

If this is the kind of cutlery you have to use in prison it's probably some kind of violation of the Geneva Convention.

For context, I've been to the states a couple of times in the early 2010s, had a great time, know many amazing people there. Had no idea I'd be fingerprinted and get my eyeballs scanned though, it was a shock.

Name, DOB & birthplace of family members? (giving away others' data w/o consent), biometric data (fingerprints, eye scan and now DNA?) Our own govts generally don't have this much citizen data - why should the US govt? You can come up with social media workarounds, but not biometrics.

And well done Ireland! It looks like you're the only country at this stage neither broadcasting nor competing.

It'd be the most likely outcome. I've only been a couple of times and the last time was in 2013 and even then I was pretty shocked at the level of scrutiny; fingerprints, eye scans etc. I don't love that the USA has my biometric data when even my own countries of citizenship don't.

Speaking as someone from an outside country (Australia), I don't know that we will. It's pretty irrelevant data for us and no-one will have dedicated border security staff to do anything with it. We'll deport you if you try and bring a banana in though.

See?! And it was actually months so y'know...follow me for more breaking trivial news that will be ignored by everyone until Reuters talks about it I suppose.

Also shout out to the guy with the 'Persians for Trump' t-shirt who's clearly dosed up to the eyeballs on cognitive dissonance

I wonder if any of those sign holders are getting bigger paychecks or paying lower prices yet?
December 10, 2025 at 1:09 AM
Yeah, 90s too. Having said that I still got a MSc in ecology/environmental science despite dropping maths in my final year of high school. Turns out I'm just bad at maths when it's not being applied in a real world context that I understand.

On a kind of related note, I was informed by AusPost last year that I couldn't send a box of matches (it was a fancy box) by post to someone else in Tas in case it accidentally ended up on a plane and my first thought was 'well that sounds like a you problem'.
