I think the Reagan Thatcher era was the start of the end of the age of hope and the notion of the common good in America. It was the end of JFK's Camelot, RFK's work to end poverty, LBJ's War on Poverty. It wasn't Morning in America as he suggested but Mourning in America. It became all about $$$.
