Yes Dems need to win those South Texas Latino voters but you have to pour resources into the state all year around, not just during election season. Texas requires long term (10-20 years) investment.

Of course you want to expand your base, but it's important not to dilute your message to appease those who are not your most reliable voter. Low black/brown turnout cancels out whatever rural white vote you gain.

I'm not saying to neglect them, I'm just saying don't prioritize the rural vote at the expense of the urban vote because the urban vote is your base.

I would like a new investment in Black/Brown and LGBTQ voters first and foremost. The base has to be shored up before we try to peel rural voters away.

Yeah, the Dem base has changed so much in the past few decades. Much more diverse. Carville and his ilk only know how to court conservative- lite white men.
