Suffered devastating losses on mine
Minard's famous chart illustrating Napoleon's 1812 M march to Moscow where many men died. There is a crooked line marking the route, with the thickness of the line representing how many men remained. It starts out very thick, gets to about half size at Moscow, then turns around and keeps getting thinner until it's just a tiny line

It's the first thanksgiving without grandma. We usually don't bring anything, just show up and get handed wine and food, but I asked mom for grandma's famous frog eye salad recipe. I can't remember a holiday without it and it wouldn't feel right not having it on the table

Few more from Seattle. I loaded a new roll of Ektar 100 after these and remembered to change my camera's ISO that time, but I'm still finishing the rest of that roll
A two story brick warehouse absolutely covered in graffiti. You're looking at it from kitty-corner across the street. There's a guy's face on the bottom corner facing the camera, with red and white stripes that maybe resemble an American flag disappearing behind the trees on the left, a painting of a log slice above the guy's head, black stripes transitioning to green against a white background on the right, which eventually gives way to an entirely green wall as it goes to the right. There are various graffiti tags along the roofline and ground, and traffic signals with red lights in both directions hanging across the foreground with signs for E Pine St and 11th Ave. There's a Budget moving truck parked with its back facing the camera on the left side. I kinda feel like the truck ruins the image, but it's also part of the urban scenery a sad looking rose bush drooping toward the right against a blue-painted wood siding wall. The blue on the bottom is much darker than the blue on the top, probably to cover some graffiti. The image is somehow both oversaturated and washed out. I still don't know if I like this picture or not Photo in portrait orientation of the Space Needle and a rectangular brick church steeple rising up symmetrically above a dark overgrown hedge against a mostly cloudy sky with just a couple little hints of blue. It is a very dramatic, high contrast image and the steeple is a bit taller than the Space Needle. Maybe it's symbolism, or maybe it just happened to be taller from where I was standing. The meaning of art is up to the viewer

and here's Seattle. These were shot on Ektar 100 but I got most of the way through the roll before I realized the camera was still on 200, so I had to push the development by a stop which cranked up the saturation and contrast. It's more extreme than I'd have gone for, but I do like the look

The sky is blue with lots of wispy white clouds and you can see several layers of mountains of increasingly lighter shades of blue/grey in the distance The Space Needle sticks up above a gritty industrial scene: two low grey, graffitied walls in the foreground with several intersecting brick buildings behind them painted in blue, green, and orange. The sky is grey with some shocks of lighter white clouds Low shot underneath the monorail tracks as a monorail streaks by on top. The tracks curve around over a squat industrial building and are supported by wide grey metal beams. Some lowrise condo-looking buildings are in the background and the sky is trying to peek out through the clouds Those same monorail tracks viewed from the side as they go over that old industrial building. There's an open driveway door on the left side that says "exit only". The rest of the building is painted in a drab slightly bluish grey. A big support column for the monorail tracks is in the center right in front of the building and a few highrises poke up above. The sky is mostly cloudy with little bits of blue showing through

and more. I recently got back into shooting film. This was my second and third roll of 35mm this century and I'm still relearning how to shoot and learning how to scan and process digitally. I'm actually really happy with how these turned out, even if I did have to learn some lessons from them
