In my entirely anecdotal and probably biased oppinion, British seem the worst with local food with Germans giving them a run for their money.

I absolutely try all the local cuisine, but also, usually around 2 weeks, I will go to some pretty remarkable lengths to find a pizza. I've had some very unusual pizza in Asia as a result.

Granted I dont have any insight into how good of a hull they had once redesigning everything, but compared to other FOIK ship builds Connie seemed pretty normal in terms of cost & schedule, just not compared to the initial insane low balls put out by acquisitions and Fincantieri.

Only way I can see it being justified going about it this way is if their redesign had serious SWAP-C issues.
November 25, 2025 at 10:19 PM
Yeah, and they're still building the first two ships of the class, so after going through the massive headache of redesigning the hull to accommodate AEGIS and US strike systems, instead of building on that, they're just scrapping it. Zumwalt part-deux?

This isnt like Iran where British Petroleum had a huge refinery complex seized from them back in the 50's. Its just poorly run state owned fields extracting plentiful but low quality oil.
November 25, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Nah, the oil majors rarely own the rigs, they just have leases on sites that Venezuela periodically auctions off. I think Chevron is probably the biggest player in the area, but could be mistaken. However, most of the exploration and extraction is performed indigenously.

A lot of what I've read or heard about Flynn seems to match that. DIA just absolutely cooked his brain/stared too long into the void.

Yeah, neither side has seemingly learned much from the past, despite now having numerous examples to look at.

Oof, what are the odds?

It definitely doesnt work when said terminal O4 gets confused by naval ranks and instead of punching down on an O3 punches up to an O6

Would not trust either within 500 feet of a school
November 25, 2025 at 1:42 PM
Yes, part of the reason why its difficult to extract is the serious under investment in new equipment or maintenance (largely due to the feather bedding & outright corruption) of course a US invasion wouldnt suddenly magic 20 years of deferred maintenance into reality either.
November 25, 2025 at 12:43 PM
Also, it waaaaaay down the list of problems, but Venezuelan oil is shit. Its difficult to extract, heavy in asphalt components and full of sulfur which makes it expensive to refine for little yield.

Venezuela cant make money off their oil right now! That's a big part of the current economic crisis

In 2025, a crackhead commando unit was sent from prison by a military court for a crime they did commit. These men promptly escaped from a mediocre security truck to the Leningrad wilderness. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune...

A not insignificant reason why AZ has D senators now is because Trump attacked the service record of an AZ senator! Just keep pissing that constituency off Trump, its bound to work eventually.

"Line go up" is an aim of most societies, it's just what that line represents (national resources, investment returns, GDP, etc) and who has access to it that varies.
