The Nobel Peace Prize becoming so prestigious that wars are fought over a head of state coveting it is some real monkey paw stuff for Alfred Nobel.

My biggest red flag is I think about buying a Jensen-Healey, Fiat Cinquecento, and/or Porsche 928 more than I should.

That… that can’t be the END of Act III. I mean, satisfying in its own way after 16 years of looking forward to it, and a damn good listen, but that didn’t wrap up the threads if it’s meant as finale.

Well, they’re performing it live tonight, so maybe we’ll have a fun surprise. #theprotomen

Repaired a final-gen ipod touch today, and it was a perfect example of why I don’t like modern Apple products: it required soldering to remove and install a new battery. when compared to a classic ipod, which was just a connector, the modern electronics truly aren’t built to be serviceable.

Of all of the indignities of modern air travel, at least we don’t have 20 people making the most mundane phone calls whilst we’re all stuck in a metal tube 10 km up.

I don’t know how to sufficiently express to all companies everywhere that I don’t want the item/service I use to have a social component. “Want to share what you’re listening to amongst your friends?” NO! I want to listen to the same terrible song 100 times and not be judged.

In all honesty: I block -- at first sight -- every account I see sharing genAI crap here. Draw or write poorly: you'll get better over time. Don't give your hobbies away to the Gaslighting Engine.

With Duolingo’s firing of humans on staff in favour of generative AI, I’ve decided to abandon my 2,293-day streak, cancel my subscription, and delete my account.

Any good recommendations on language-learning software?

It’s weird: this is my first trip in a while where I haven’t brought a camera with me. I won’t have time to go out and use it, but I still am sitting here at the aeroport going “what if?”
