Let's inject a little humour into Canadian politics and politicians.
Points for making it work, as observed from the UK:
1. Keep it funny, not mean.
2. Apply the onslaught equally to politicians of all stripes.
3. Find the opportunities.
4. Get the leaders a meal.
5. Be nice(ish).
6. Press record.
One thing I miss about the UK is how fabulously people and pundits made fun of UK politicians and their politics. Doesn't happen so much here.
With Mark Carney back in the news in a big way, I'm wondering if this is anything? Probably not, but it's a Simpsons reference I don't get to use very often.

I see the separation discussion also grew some legs while I was away. angusreid.org/referendum-a...

Anyone have a map of Alberta sans Indigenous Treaty lands? If I recall correctly, that doesn't leave much to separate.
Referendum Reality? Half in Alberta & Saskatchewan call for vote on independence, but fewer would actually leave -
Concessions on emissions caps, Bill C-69, east-to-west pipelines sway many “leave” voters May 8, 2025 – The path for a referendum on separation in Alberta was laid out this week by Premier Danielle Sm...

It's so interesting to come back from a totally disconnected holiday to find our government making plans to actively lose funds (cutting 407 toll fees) and also invest in something we really don't need (401 tunnel).

What does this headline mean to you?

Wouldn't it be nice if journos and news outlets took more care with their headlines to reduce ambiguity?

(It's the facilities.)
Detained students sent to remote ICE facilities in Louisiana accused of human rights abuses
The students have been sent across the country to detention centers that groups and government watchdogs have investigated over health and safety concerns.

I was never much into the "I was today years old" but I was today years old when I learned my partner of 15 years doesn't know - has never heard - Bust A Move until today. Who am I even married to?

(This is a joke.)

What is going on without Toronto's schools? This plus recent unexpected closures of some tdsb schools due to emergent needs to repair electrical and plumbing should be concerning to all parents.

Absolutely monstrous. There is no bottom to the depths of their depravity

So, when can we expect the PM to go to the GG to kick off the process to draw up the writs?

I'm ready for our next general election.

A second German tourist is being held in a detention centre after having her Visa revoked by the U.S.

It’s the same detention centre holding Jessica Brösche, the German tattoo artist who spent 8 days in solitary. She’s been held for 6 weeks.

This is a gift article so I will pass it on. I am glad I am not in the US. I use many of these words to describe my research on older adults with dementia and the law (eg. disability, mental health, discrimination, etc).

It is a shame that someone as smart and well performing as Karina Gould doesn't get more than 3%(!!!) of the vote, but if this result is indicative of how Poilievre gets defeated, I won't complain.

Congrats to Mark Carney. I look forward to seeing how his value(s) play out as PM.

But I'm disappointed that the Liberal Party doesn't seem to want to take any responsibility for the issues many had with the Identity+ app.
Thank you.

So the LSO CEO has been fired. But the commissioned report has not been released and looks like it won't be as the benchers are claiming legal privilege. #LSO members and the public will never know the real story and transparency is still just a word.

Are the Liberals just ignoring what a shit show their leadership election is, thanks to the issues with @canadapostcorp.bsky.social's Identity+ app, no ballots for many voters who can access the voting site, and the absolute failure of the party to respond to support emails?
