Why would there be another camp?
Even outside of the forecasting (which, granted, still needs some love) the ability to improve communications by not using phrases written in the 1970s (originally ALL CAPS) is a win.

All of the sources were news stories, so I assume someone has to publish it. I doubt it's looking at METARs.

Because the NWS sends out these “mutual aid” messages several times per day. Some for training days, some for fire alarms, some for communication issues. It’s a common occurrence.
