Indeed, the Mets were so bad then that ragging on Magadan was our only fun. Then they signed the corpse of HOFer Eddie Murray and Magadan left.

I don't remember him playing SS, because he was so darn slow i find that hard to believe. I know HoJo played SS when someone else (probably Magadan) needed to play third.

My cousin and I loved to make fun of his speed and spent our time at the ballpark heckling him. He was a good hitter who lacked power and routinely shrunk doubles into singles. Defensively he replaced Keith Hernandez so never got credit for his decent glove.

Getting Delgado was the move that put us into Championship contention in the mid-00's. His big bat protected David Wright and Carlos Beltran and they both had monster seasons during the Delgado years.

They need to be more efficient with their pitches. They all walked too many batters. If you can go 6 throwing 85-90, that helps manage your own load as well as the bullpen. Willard's philosophy i think helps push that.

They're not moving Holmes back to the bullpen. Guy just made the 100 inning jump, why would they go reverse that now? Year 2 will be better than year 1 and year 1 was only a disappointment because the rest of the rotation crumbled around him.

In contrast the other offseasons (NFL, NBA, NHL) start fast but end within a day or two.
