This is exactly the sort of question designed to send me down a rabbit hole. I’m still there, but I found this on the way down: www.seacoastonline.com/story/news/l...
Historically Speaking: The dangers of the horse and buggy days
If the thought of driving on a snowy day keeps you at home, you'd do well to remember that horse-drawn vehicles weren't much safer than cars. Yes, carriages and sleighs traveled at much slower speeds…

Desperate to breathe, I agreed. He popped a couple of needles in my upper back, within short order I could breathe again. I was still dealing with breathing issues and had months of nebulizer treatments afterwards, but it was no longer a crisis. I’m pretty sure he saved my life. 2/2

In Seattle in 99, I was hit with gas and went into a severe asthma attack. At the makeshift first aid clinic there was a doctor who said they didn’t the have medical supplies to help, but he was also trained in acupuncture if I was willing to try that. 1/2

Thanks for sharing. I’m hopefully teaching a course on the impact of new tech on journalism next semester, and I may add this to the reading list.

I loved The Beach Boys mid-90s, but I did keep it under wraps until I reached college in the late 90s. The cringe of Kokomo was still too fresh before then. There was absolutely no problems declaring interest in the Beatles in the 90s, especially when they released Anthology 1 & 2 in 1995/1996.

The increase in committee meetings, p&t requirements, and obligations to participate in recruitment and fundraising, along with the impact of student evaluations, have driven them all into hiding.

I think of this as my inertia problem.

Absolutely. But also there’s a lot of forgetting. Which, then again, often leads to this when the task is once again remembered.
