really fascinated by the way everything James Cameron says gets taken as an attack on other filmmakers because how did this become him attacking Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, a movie which Guillermo likely would have wanted a wide theatrical release for.

the funniest thing about this too is that john wells obviously has a point undeniably his showrunning was a major factor, sherri crichton has a point that michael crichton is the creator of ER, and noah needs to get the fuck over himself carter was a comic relief character.
because in his mind he is a major reason why ER was the success that it was, and john wells believes it was all because of his showrunning (he all but said this to sherri), and sherri is extremely emotionally invested in her husband’s creative legacy.

the reason why this credit is the source of all the conflict isn’t even really about the pitt or the planned sequel series, this is secretly an argument about who was responsible for the success of the original show, and noah and john don’t want to give any part of that to crichton’s screenplay
if everyone involved—including david zaslav—was acting out of pure self-interest the pitt would not exist, they would have made the ER sequel series with a “created by michael crichton” credit and everyone would have made lots of money and been very happy
