Italics for specific dialogue but I will admit a lot of my prose is sort of third person musing anyways even outside of that. Love that the most recent examples I could find was devastating #bladesong (archiveofourown.org/works/66620392) and soft #lorion (archiveofourown.org/works/71670176 ) lmao
Orion quiets a moment, steadying himself poorly as he seems to try and focus despite what is quickly fleeting from his body. A single hand reaches out, patting the dagger against Granson's hip, and he coughs once more. Quick and as painless as he can manage it, that's what they agreed. That's what they had to settle for. Drawing the dagger into his hand, pressing the tip against Orion's chest, Granson feels himself hesitate in a way he didn't have the chance to with her. Maybe, his mind begs, maybe you're being hasty. Maybe we have more time. Maybe this isn't it. Maybe, maybe, maybe. As he meets Orion's gaze once more, he knows there is no maybe. The light there, not the destructive force devouring him, but the kind and warm light the man embodied alone, is nearly gone. Flexing his hand open to look at the gil in his palm, he again closed his eyes and concentrated on his wish. Foolish as it still seemed, he was at least willing to humor the thought. I wish... He thought, then paused at how heavy it weighed. When had he last wished for something? A night when he wanted to go home and woke up exactly where he was kept, probably. Refocusing, he drew it to conjure like one might energy to perform magicks. I wish one day someone will love me. And when they tell me, I can believe them. Looking up at Orion, another part tacked on against better judgment. It might be foolish... but I hope it's you. Tossing it into the fountain, he watched as it sank to the bottom slowly. A gentle floating of a quiet hope down to the depths of that which may never be spoken. They might. That small 'if' that Loifa had never allowed himself elsewhere found a foothold he wasn't used to the allowance of all because of the man next to him.

His hands curled against the bar to steady an unsteady frame as the last drink in his system took hold. Orion was not new to this sort of teasing and as frustrating as it was to fall for it once more, Loifa couldn't deny it was part of why he enjoyed him so much. Frustration providing a sort of push and pull that would never break the boundary of something that took things out of his hands. "When do you get off?" Loifa asked raising his voice over the music that kicked up into its chorus. Orion's eyes lit up with thought as if he were considering his schedule and leaned forward over the bar to place their faces closer together before speaking in a tone he had yet to hear in this room but was well versed in for others. "Whenever you say I can." Loifa's brows raised certain he misheard him. "Wh-" "If you're willing..." Orion said, smile hungry yet his stance proved him slightly uncertain. Rare as it was. "But to answer you, I'll be done here at two."

Saw a dumb iPhone message meme on Pinterest this morning and had to do a stupid little prompt about it. Mostly because Orion and Meteor texting is just really funny to me to think about. ( #meteoraha — adjacently #meteo’raha haha jk unless)
[The text comes as unceremoniously as most of Meteor's messages arrive. This one, however, is in the middle of the night and Orion wonders if he's receiving it solely because he knows he is awake. Either way, he's not asleep yet, so it's something to do until the night claims him. Meteor: If I don't talk about this I think I'm going to die. Orion raises a brow to no one and then the other in recall that had remained vacant until that moment. He went on a date. Right. Well, this was even more fun than before. Orion: Can't have that. Go on. How was he? The bubbles do their dance of anticipation and Orion gets up to go get a drink. Something tells him he will need it. After all, he knows the man Meteor went out with. He knows him very, very well. Meteor: I WANT TO GIVE HIM THINGS LIKE BLOWJOBS AND SELF ESTEEM You didn't WARN ME! Why didn't you WARN ME? Glass to his mouth, Orion chuckles, "Blowjobs and self esteem. Gods, I fucking love you." Orion: It's more fun like this. Believe me you'll get something back. Dinner and a show. There is no pause in the next texts that fly onto the screen. Orion takes another drink and the taste of soft spice in the gin warms his chest. Maybe tomorrow's special uses it. Meteor: Fuck off. Don't. I see him tomorrow. "Yeah, and the next night, and the next. Raha, you little mastermind you're going to fuck my weekend plans up and I can't even blame you," Orion mutters, mouth quirking at the edge. A thought flits across his mind but it's one he'll save until the right time.

Fits a bit of Orion POV into the concept I’m working on the WIP of from Granson’s POV of him passing out in 5.3 before he can return to the source #bladesong
Darkness and the pressure of the water compounding with each fathom above his head left Orion with only one conclusion: he was dead—or rather he was in the process of dying. The light was barely there, twinkling in a sharp and small glimmer as the sun's light tried to break through the distance and dissipated nonetheless. If there was a way to go, he figured there could be worse ones. Fire. Eaten. Torn to shreds. Water was familiar even in its dangerous embrace. He had spent so much time since receiving the blessing just resting as deep as he could beneath the surface until he was pulled up for one reason or another. At that thought, Orion blinked. He wasn't drowning. He couldn't. So, what was he doing? Pulling in a breath, the darkness cleared a little further and drove his confusion deeper. A muffled sound of voices mingled as if just above the surface he approached without movement. He strained to hear as he inhaled another breath and still his limbs did not respond to his demand to move and swim faster. Come on. Come on, Rho. We aren't done yet, hear? Mouth opening to respond to the call he would always answer, no sound left him. No "heard" to reply to a man who was waiting there above the waves. There was only silence and weight as he slowly climbed to the surface. Sunlight poured in more and more nearly drawing to a blinding white as he reached the end and as his weakened hand touched to break through he felt as if he dropped again. Stomach taken, he gasped out but this time water did not fill his mouth. It was air, clear and plain, and the world was lighter than it had been only a moment ago. That truth did not remain for long as soon a body was pressed into him in full and he need not open his eyes to know who it was. He would know that frame in death and even beyond. "Heard," Orion croaked and heard the choked sound from Granson's throat struggle to form any sort of response. He took another slow breath in and sighed out with an easier effort than before. "I'll ask what happened later. For now—" "For now, you stay here. You stay," Granson commanded and Orion opened his eyes slightly to find Granson's stern yet softened expression. "You stay."

Petal [ "You remind me of this," he says one day and she nearly doesn't want to turn to look at what he's referring to—but, she does. In O'khami's hand rests a desert saffron flower. It is warm and pink, perfect in its existence as if it were plucked from a book rather than where it grew. Rhaya looks at it and ultimately takes the flower from him as he stands before her. His tail swishes expectantly waiting for her to ask what it is that he means by that and so she does. "How?" she asks, fingers pressing a petal between them carefully, "I am nothing like the color of this flower. If anything, I am its opposite in every way." "It has nothing to do with the color… though I can see why you'd go there first." "Where else would I go, Khami?" "Perhaps… to where I went…?" O'khami sings softly, head ticked to the side with a grin that does the same on his face. "That you are something that makes anything you're involved with brighter. That you add spice to life. That you are something a desert keeps." Rhaya wants to roll her eyes at the romantics but she can't manage it. No, this time, O'khami has done something beyond his usual poking and pedaling of a merchant's tongue to get her to buy what he's selling. This feels honest and that hurts her stomach. "You hate it." She looks up at him, eyes wide and shakes her head. "Far from it. I just… I've never been told something like that." "Well, now you have. And it's yours to cook with, if you wish. Or keep. Or toss. It's yours—as am I of which you can do the same," O'khami rambles, scratching at his neck. "I had this worked out and you've stolen my eloquence again." "I don't think I've ever seen you wield it." "Of course you haven't, you steal it!" Shaking his head, he chuckles. "Azeyma guide me." Giving a soft, closed mouth hum of a laugh in response, Rhaya reaches to curl a hand against the curve of his jaw. It steadies their gazes but for a moment and she kisses his cheek once. Beneath her lips, she feels heat and smiles enough to bare teeth. A huntress if ever there was one. "So, any of those?" she asks. "How does the cooking one work?" "I think I am properly fried by you already, if that answers your question." Another laugh and he sinks into her further. "It does, yes." ]

Smoke: [ The fire crackles as another piece of wood is cast upon it, nudged by a stick now slightly charred at its end. It causes smoke to shift and plume heavier than a moment before as it is fed to new heights. G'raha winces, eyes pinching shut with a slight cough as he shifts from where it falls over him without stop. It makes his ears flick, tail following in a quick motion, and Meteor has to bite his lip not to laugh. As if it would escape the other man's notice regardless. "Funny, is it?" G'raha asks, walking a wider circle from the campfire as if to clear his lungs before coming back to sit opposite where he was before. "Unsurprising is all," Meteor offers and earns a furrowed brow that he is all too pleased to remedy the question of, "It's as they say: smoke follows beauty." "Ha," G'raha says, nearly coughs, dryly. "I'm serious." G'raha clears his throat, hand grasping for a canteen of water to settle himself. He drinks for a moment and silence again falls on the night between them. Meteor could keep talking to fill it out—he does, often—but something about tonight feels better if things are unsaid. Or rather they're still spoken, but not in words. Red meets the hungry ember that continues to feed and G'raha steals another glance only to linger. "It's foolish, isn't it?" He gestures at the gap between them on their respective logs. "This." "Sitting on logs? In a way, I suppose. There are softer things—" "No," G'raha interrupts and stands to move closer and fits himself onto the end of the log Meteor had claimed as his own. His hands hang between his knees, curling open and closed as if they were giving him breath. "Space. Distance. We've had enough of that, haven't we?" Meteor blinks slower, mouth curled up at the edge as he leans to press their shoulders together. And in a gamble, ever as he likes to make, he leans to press a kiss to G'raha's ear making it flick. "I think we have," Meteor replies in words nearly lost to the wind. It all feels a little too real. Too raw. Too honest. He speaks again anyways, "We could use more of other things instead." G'raha looks up at him, face warmed by something other than the fire, and smiles. "Yes… I do believe we could." ]

A tumblr post is next to him “in the club getting psychosexual” From behind, we see Orion coax Loifa over who is confused by the action as he’s just simply drinking and enjoying himself. Orion stands smug as Loifa has obeyed and speaks a tweet that reads “gently waving a guy over at the club just to say ‘I only wanted to see if you’d obey’.” To which Loifa replies “I’m going to kill you.”
