Three of my friends have lost their sons to suicide in their late-teens/early-20s in the last 2 years. Today was the funeral for the most recent one. I hope it’s the last.

The problem I have with mentally disconnecting from the current news cycles, is coming back and having to sift through a million new horrors at once, just to catch up, which feels worse to me than just staying informed as things happen.

About 10 days ago I had about 3 hours to prepare for a surprise flight to Utah. Then I had about 30 minutes the next day to prepare for a surprise drive home. Now that the initial issue has been dealt with, I have a luxurious 5 days to prepare for a round trip drive to Utah this coming weekend. 🤪

I used to be an auditor for the IRS. My manager was retired Air Force and retired from the IRS after 35 years at the age of 75 in 2011. I just found out that he died on Thursday 10 days shy of his 89th birthday. He taught me everything I know and I wouldn’t have the career I have now without him. 😢
