Baseballs break because of spin, or the Magnus force. They also break because of differences between the air flow around them on two sides due to seams, which we call Seam -Shifted Wake. If you would like to learn more about it, check out baseballaero.com/2020/12/23/c...

Pros:
1) it rides so high, you can work on it without lifting it (and you'll need to)
2) Compression is so bad, if you fuck up the timing belt, no harm done
3)Tires are cheap?
Cons:
She's not going to be impressed, especially not after that David Spade Geek/Spaz/Dweeb sketch.

I'm watching Death by Lightning and I gotta tell ya, Michael Shannon is a REALLY under-rated actor. Excellent in all the tiny movies you haven't seen him in.

It isn’t practical to question all established facts. But when you find so-called facts that are tied to nothing— no paper, no experimental evidence, there’s a good chance someone made up a plausible explanation and it simply gets repeated until everyone thinks it’s a fact.

Put that on my tombstone

My dean nominated my wife for USU Veteran of the Year, and I'm attending the lunch in honor of her and others today. She usually hates this stuff, but for once, it's an award she didn't apply for and she's really proud. I'm proud of her. Happy Veteran's Day.

Had occasion go be in the REALLY tiny town of Newton, UT today and spied the nicest little ball field I've seen around here, right at Center and Main, as it should be.

I was very fortunate back in 2018 that a mutual friend introduced me to Ron Jeffries, who gave me a tour of Jolly Pumpkin in Dexter, MI. Very sadly, Ron passed away last year. We lost a true original. Raise a glass to Ron and to Michigan beer, best in the USA IMHO.

This was 6 years ago, thinking about spinning the ball around a seam. not the right part of the seam, as it turned out, but still.

This is my fav from these guys so far. I commented that I was happy they brought it back. They explained that they had to make old beers because new labels have to be approved by the feds, who are closed.
