As I suddenly have many new followers, hello! 👋 I will have to try and actually start posting here... my history niche is mostly WW1 aviation, but there will probably also be general planeposting, books and horses 🛩️📚🐴 I look forward to getting to know you all 🙂

Lots of ways to be a man! Problems can lie in fitting into societal expectations of 'manliness', and men can be crap at dealing with that. I've never wanted to hurt myself, but many do, and a British man kills himself every two hours. It's why I support www.mensmindsmatter.org #InternationalMensDay

Asked about Tommy Robinson supporting her asylum plans Shabana Mahmood replies that "Tommy Robinson doesn't even think I'm actually English, so he will certainly not be supporting anything I've got to say."

But he is supporting what she's got to say. That was the point of the question

Can we go back to the days when politicians said that they really wanted to help people but it’s very hard and takes time, rather than saying that they want to hurt people and can do it quickly?

Thank you, Judge Schwager. But it shouldn’t require a judge to say something that is so hugely obvious.

To turn this argument on its head: if OpenAI had won, presumably it would be fine for me to go into their HQ and help myself to whatever I want.

There are only two options. Either we *have* forgotten, or we have remembered and decided to root for the other side.
Gross hypocrisy.

@cwgc.bsky.social This needs a serious and proper response. It shouldn’t take one man to make something happen, but anger is building and a great many people are watching to see what happens next.

Worth mentioning, there's nothing illegal about seeking asylum. Indeed the need for those doing so to use irregular routes is recognised in law, provided they present themselves, as they have to, to seek asylum to the relevant authorities. This is a grotesquely misleading comment by the Home Office.

It’s the 111th anniversary today of the birth of Harry Rée, who was a teacher and conscientious objector when the Second World War broke out, and by the time it ended, when he was 31, had invented ‘blackmail sabotage’ and got a DSO, an OBE, a Croix de Guerre, and a Medaille de la Resistance

I have absolutely zero knowledge of both Friends and The Simpsons.
Inspired by a post I just saw in which someone admitted they hadn’t seen a single episode of Friends nor the film Love Actually… what cultural hole do you have that’s a bit weird for your generation?

I’ll go first: I haven’t seen Dirty Dancing.

If you support racist policies, I'm afraid that does very much make you racist.

At the very least, it means you're ok with racism so long as you think (wrongly, in the case of whatever shite Reform are peddling) that you can benefit from it.
