Need #Thanksgiving advice. Landlord refuses to repair oven. Turkey breast won’t fit in toaster oven/air fryer. We do have multifunction Ninja crock pot. Anyone tried to cook one in that? Ideas about how to do this? I am fried. Someone gave us the turkey breast. Kiddo wants Thanksgiving.

Pegasus Residential told me this morning that they are moving ahead with the eviction despite the government likely reopening this week, which make it nearly impossible to rent a new place.

This was the last time we went to pick up Miss Meadow. Her mom struggled with addiction and relapse, and the catto came and went until her mom finally told us to keep her. She just graduated with her social work degree and is doing great. And still Meads rules the roost.

USDA’s shutdown plan (Sept 30, 2025) stated that multi-year contingency funds, approved by Congress, are available to continue SNAP benefits during a government shutdown.

That document was removed from USDA’s website. The White House says it won’t authorize the very funding Congress approved.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP):OMB's General Counsel provided a letter to USDA on May 23, 2025 stating that there is a bona fide need to obligate benefits for October - the first month of the fiscal year - during or prior to the month of September, thereby guaranteeing that benefit funds are available for program operations even in the event of'a government shutdown at the beginning of a fiscal year. In addition, Congressional intent is evident that SNAP's operations should continue since the program has been provided with multi-year contingency funds that can be used for State Administrative Expenses to ensure that the State can also continue operations during a Federal Government shutdown. These multi-year contingency funds are also available to fund participant benefits in the event that a lapse occurs in the middle of the fiscal year. To fulfill this Congressional intent, it is necessary that a limited number of FNS employees be excepted from furlough to support program operations. These activities include, but are not limited to, program policy and operations, financial management, and stakcholder communications.
