Petersham playground in Richmond Park is set to (finally) reopen on Saturday. Nearly everything in it looks new, and looks like a lot more wood used than the old equipment.

Bus services in Kingston still being hammered by the lane closures on the one way system. No progress update from council, so not sure if there's been much any creative thinking to mitigate the problem (for example traffic wardens directing traffic &/or temporarily making Birkenhead Avenue one way)?

The new Unilever development in Kingston is looking pretty close to finished. Still no sign of any work on the redevelopment of Eden Walk across the road (hopefully that's worked out well for those who took on 'short term' leases back in the mid twenty tens)

The contractors came prepared to close a cycle lane... but didn't realise that it was North Kingston, so they'd struggle to find a cycle lane that could be closed.

Schools thread: It looks like Kingston council has belatedly accepted that the numbers of pupils in primary schools is not going to be rocketing up. And instead has been going down, sharply. (See below for how out of step with the rest of London's the previous predictions were)

This is how it had looked for the last few years (and been judged not to be a priority in terms of road safety)

Kingston road safety news - the confusing/dangerous old bus lane markings on London Road between the Park Road roundabout and the railway bridge have finally been fixed. Took a few years & probably only done now after ex-cllr @jontolley.bsky.social put highways boss on the spot at a council meeting.

The road closures causing gridlock for buses/cars in Kingston even during the height of August. The Park Road work is scheduled to finish this weekend - the one way system closure outside Tiffin School now seems listed to last until 26 August.

Having said that, there's the same overly tall poles on the new zebra crossing in Elm Road (side note - is this the shortest zebra crossing in England?) #kingston #kingstonuponthames #kingstononthames

Can't help feeling that there must have been a safe way for the roundabout at Park Road/Kingston Hill junction in Kingston to have stayed open while work is done in Manorgate Road.
