Day 8 of my 2025 Favorites: You Can Handle The Floof

Rosy maple moths emerge fairly regularly in my yard, and occasionally I'm lucky enough to find a fresh one who wants a nice spot to rest and let their wings dry. Like my hand. Look at him 🩷

Fair enough, but if you could buy a complexion like that a lot more rich people would be going around w/ an alabaster glow.

Noooo! I recently had them take away a book I like to dip back into at intervals (Stephen Greenblatt's Will in the World) & it was an excellent argument for sticking to physical media. Thank you for buying my book & hope they restore the audio one!

You have posting charisma, the thinking gal's magnetism.

I was once seated about 5 feet from Jessica Chastain at an event & it was genuinely amazing the way light reflected off her, like she was sculpted out of marble & glowing from within. Crazy stuff.

Ha! Can't really blame her when that whole movie was massively overdirected and overacted. I love her in the right roles--very psyched for Devil Wears Prada 2.

Thanks so much! I had a great time recording it, though it was very challenging. I lucked into being assigned a really good engineer who had read the book and gave me great notes on where to slow down, emphasize the end of a sentence, etc.

Ps. just went to Insta & it was my beloved acquiring editor who saw & re-posted this! So he already tagged my agent & now I am in a buzzy mood for the rest of the day. Thanks for the alert.

What?! No one has shown me this, including my agent, so I guess I will have to show it to him! I will also get on Instagram, which I haven't used for months, and thank her. So cool that she is reading my book! Wonder how it came into her hands...

No offense, just standing up for my pal Sam! As for internet loneliness, I hear it's going around but I wouldn't know as someone who only visits this site ... um ... almost every hour?😬

"Sharply conflicting demands" = RU: We would like large portions of your land mass for our own purposes UKR: Get out of our sovereign nation that you invaded without provocation

I think, & I'll make this my last contribution to this discussion, that anyone who follows Sam, a very engaged & non-transactional user of social media, gets that he was self-mockingly referring to the fact that he is constantly posting about those two shows. Journalists just want to share our work.

So so cool! Mazel!

I love when I post a movie review on here that represent hours if not days of thinking & writing about the film in question & someone immediately replies w/ "tl;dr did you like it or not?"

"Clickbait" refers to content that is misleading or deceptive in some way, as in, the headline promises something the article doesn't deliver on. I fail to see how a writer posting a link their own work in a way that encourages people to, gasp, click through & read that work qualifies as misleading.
