I started making homemade canned cranberry sauce (just cranberries, sugar, and salt cooked down forever and strained into a can to gel in the fridge) and it solved the generations-old conflict between the camps in my family.

I usually shrug at new cooking vessels (tiny urban kitchen I've curated over 20 years that already has 50+ cooking things hanging on walls), but there are so many things I could use this for that would be better than my current methods. Damn it

I always thought I would get around to replacing mine, but I've ended up keeping my not-a-setup setup even when doing restaurant recipe development in my home kitchen. Please post your thoughts if you do end up buying something. I admittedly gave up looking and may have missed improvements

I mostly just use my stove, deep pots and a thermometer since my deep fryer died. The temp settings on home fryer models are terrible. I also use my Breville electric wok for frying small things. Great for falafel (and conserves oil with its geometry)

Frustrated on your behalf. I don't know who else is in the intersection of people who devoured both Stuff & Money and The Invention of the Restaurant, but it would probably be a fun time if you ever hold a happy hour for us all
