He said, of Omaha beach on D-Day (which was a slaughterhouse), "We put the bodies up by the rocks on the beach, under the cliffs. That way the waves couldn't wash them out to sea. The quarter masters who collected the bodies? They were all Black."

😆 my theory is that posting into the void is a research method b/c it activates responses that may be useful. (Although this could also be described by existing theories)

For my MAE, we had to pass the EdTPA (which is a bitch, but is a nationally standardized test). The bar exam is standardized (per state). I understand why a PhD exam can’t be *standardized* b/c you’re supposed to be doing original work in your field but it would be nice to see examples.

If multiple people have written entire books on the thing, that thing is not a question for a timed test. imo. but I’m sure he was able to fill the whole hour!

This reminds me of a horror story of oral exams (they only had oral, and they’re supposed to be an hour, right) when I was at Buffalo and the examinee walks in to the room and Rodolphe Gasché goes, “so what is Heidegger’s concept of time?”

Between limited access to abortion and hormones, weight loss imperatives and drugs, and COVID denial and limited post-viral care, I’m wondering who they think is going to solve the “male loneliness epidemic” if we’re all dead
