This photo took A LOT of planning. Essentially the photographer used a special lens, was yonks away from the skydiver, and the skydiver jumped out at 8K feet. Thank you A James McCarthy, this is a once in a lifetime shot.
Per the photographer, ajamesmccarthy on reddit, I captured my friend in freefall while skydiving with a hydrogen alpha telescope, revealing the details of the solar atmosphere behind his silhouette. The photo shows a man falling, upside down, against a backdrop of the sun, in sufficient detail that you can see sunspots and solar prominences. The width of the sun is about 12 times the length of the man's form.

It's a good thing this is a recycled prank photo on a rectanglular wooden serving platter (which is actually a piece of floorboard) eight french fries are resting. Most notable is what’s called the “stadium effect” in the storm’s eye. This describes the towering clouds in the eyewall taking on the appearance of circular seating in a sports stadium. It’s a phenomenon seen in many powerful hurricanes and is caused by air rising rapidly outward near the eye.
