I saw the otters again! This little trio is bringing me so much joy lately.
Three river otters at the edge of a lake. One is standing on a submerged log so most of its long body is out of the water and its head is up toward the camera. The second otter only has its head visible at the peak of a triangular water ripple. The third otter is diving perpendicular to the camera so only a part of its back can be seen.

People ask me if the cats like their backpacks. I carried this cat around in this bag for SEVEN MILES yesterday and she’s basically continued napping in it since we got home.

🚨 Seattle, our City Council is proposing to prioritize twigs over people.
The most extreme proposal from Rivera-and the one that made Rinck confirm with council staff that the amendment really would do what it appeared to do-would allow the city to require developers to come up with a completely new alternative plan if it turned out their housing proposal would require the removal of any tree, no matter its size, age, or viability. It's easy to see how this could grind development in traditional single-family areas to a halt. If someone planted a sapling on a property slated for development, or if there was already unremarkable small tree on site, the city could stop the project and require the developer to start from scratch.
