When the triple disaster hit Japan in 2011, people left the area but animals, such as boars, stayed. In this animal highlight Herre discusses how the animals started to roam more in the urban areas and showed no adverse radioactive side-effects.

In this highlight, Herre de Bondt looks at how nuclear waste from the 2011 triple disaster in Fukushima impacted the lives of wild boars in Japan. He discusses how boars responded to the departure of humans and are being impacted by their return.
