Content procrastinator, tech masochist, and art admirer. Unhealthily obsessive about #Lightgun #Gaming and Tales of.
Also makes videos on the internet; some people like them, apparently.

Nothing more to see here.

*boi/boi's
(Game otherwise seems to run perfectly even stock with the latest GE. A game with Windows Media Video files and somehow THAT isn't the issue.)

Sure, maybe not every single new game will work perfectly day of, but also considering that Proton's only like four years old now and its only big issues these days are (occasional) video codecs for super old games, and being AC-blocked for newer ones?
I'm mostly *very* happy with where Linux is at.

Even the Batman launchers went from a giant emboldened "WILL NEVER SUPPORT LINUX" warning to shipping a version with the needed runtime builtin to the executable, so it's literally drop-in compatible with Linux.

It also helps that modders have been very courteous towards Wine lately. HedgeModManager would've required SteamTinkerLaunch in the past in its own dedicated pfx, but now it's just... An app on Flathub and the mod loader works without any other nonsense. RE engine mods don't even need a cmd anymore.

Ironically, the EGS games I installed through Junk Store all worked ootb, except 20XX which (still) needed a verb.

Having to *use* Protontricks is never exactly fun, but I only needed to use it that one time. But most of the rest of the time, it's just... Normal PC gaming bullshit?

(...And the latter's easily fixed by GE)

All the rest is just my dumbass modding games. The only one that gave me real shit for the stupidest reason was the Zestiria fix, and that's because ToZFix is fucking ancient and not built into SpecialK yet, and for some reason NVAPI is enabled on Deck.

All of this just so that people can say they can play CoD or Battlefield - on a device they probably don't actually want to PLAY those games on, because who's playing competitive shooters on a gamepad?
All that extra bullshit that gets in the way to play all of five games. Is that REALLY worth it?

Like the "fullscreen Windows experience" is literally just an app that runs on top of the normal Explorer interface; it's lipstick on a pig.

You're not getting a new handheld; you're just setting up a new PC, but without a real mouse or keyboard and all the pain that brings, WITHOUT touchpads.

maybe I'll chuck the texture replacements on GitHub or smth just so it's there as a public resource in case brainier people want to inject these into the game proper, iunno? still need to do the other bonus mode screens/wpns

Moral of the story: send help, brain bad, keep getting distracted, aaaaa

rn this is just being done with textures so at least two lines of subs are REALLY awkwardly smol and again this only works on emulation

BUT there's also kind of some beefy extra content in this version, with its own exclusive weapons that were ONLY in Japanese and I'm remaking those from scratch?

Maybe PD2 has just become one of the constants of the world, like war and politics and EverQuest.

And yet they still require mods to fix all those bugs left over since r141 lol.

But then again I'm basically just describing Retroarch's settings priority hierarchy lol.

I'm such a fucking dork.

Honestly most of my usability qualms aren't *really* EmuDeck's fault, but about SRM and just the nature of Steam's interface.
If Steam(OS or Client) could bulk-set perf profiles for a bunch of games, like per-collection with per-game overrides, that would be SUPER helpful.
