The Oath of Enlistment is public record and can even be downloaded from the army's website. The "obey the orders of" section specifically has the caveat of "according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice." Those two absolutely do require an enlisted person to form their own -

Saw this post elsewhere and wow, did the armies of insecurity come out to play. No, kids, that's called insecurity. Hopefully you're understand when you're older, but if you need that blanket a "don't talk to" boundary, you have some serious trust issues to work out first.

Really not sure why people keep saying this when it's absurdly obvious that every single nation on earth existed without controlled borders prior to the 20th century. Controlled borders have just not been a thing for all but a blip of human existence.

It is new to them, though, and why does that matter? They clearly weren't boycotting before and they are now. It has never been true that everyone arrives at the protest for the same reasons, and probably never will be.

The people who mock you for talking about the existing legal options, no matter how remote, while offering no solutions of their own are not your friends, actually, and they're not helping. The existing anti-establishment voices might be too entrenched in their "nothing works" mentality.
