Yeah I don’t think that is happening at all. In the pod below, Gareth Gore gives a frank assessment of the impact of the “changes” the pope intends to announce.

The Catholic Church in Sydney is led by Anthony Fisher - an Opus Dei proponent and massive fan of the child rapist George Pell.

Yeah it wasn’t just the churches that were unsafe. Opus Dei Catholics are so deranged that they even moved pedophiles who weren’t priests - often into their family homes.

Yes. The Catholic Church have done that everywhere they operate. The city I grew up in (melbourne) might be the worst in the world for Opus Dei refining the art of providing a playground for pedophiles. Some of the worst offenders were moved dozens of times and have hundreds of victims.

In Australia, it is very clear that Opus Dei ran the entire child abuse cover up. Opus Dei moved pedophiles while “treating” them for “homosexuality”…and then our christofascist former prime minister gave the perpetrators medals for “service to community”. It’s stuff that would make Mengele blush.

To everyone pushing the pope memes, ICYMI: We are days away from Vatican giving victim-survivors of Opus Dei the biggest “fuck you” while confirming the pope is gonna keep covering up all the abuse, human trafficking and open hatred perpetrated by Opus Dei in the Catholic church’s name.

Look same, however, openness and amenability to considering the Vatican’s actions as anything other than extremely calculating at all times is the hook that’s allowed them to get away with such extreme abuse and avoid any accountability. For so long as there is Opus Dei there are no good Catholics.

Indeed. That’s the scam though right there. Without Opus Dei there’s no second Trump term so as urgent as the current moment is, do you really wanna be falling for the “look over here” strategy the Vatican are rolling with? This ICE insanity has been going for months and pope is just stepping up now

Thinky. Fuck.

What is even happening?!?

There’s a lot of distrust in community. The legacy of referendum looms large. With massive money sloshing around conditions for exploitation are ripe. Inevitable replication of fossil industry tactics that weaponise native title and cultural heritage against mob to fracture community is v.bad vibes.

I’m very wary of the approach unions are taking to First Nations communities and renewables…so are many others. It’s David and Goliath on such a scale that it’s very easy for groups that are genuinely capable getting undermined by unions saying one thing and doing another. 1/

Mostly it’s about exploiting blakfullas in order to expand unabated wasteful, senseless consumption that poisons the information environment so billionaires can get richer while ending democracy.

There’s a lot of suss AF “engagement” with First Nations communities from this predatory industry.

Ashes vibes coming across as very high in the guardian office...is it a social contagion thing or just dire need for escapism?
