Feminist, gardener, music/opera lover, #LFC. Writer of love stories. Now: Channel4, Comic Relief, BAFTA, WACL Before: Thinkbox, ASA, PHD, ITV. If I can't work out who you are I probably won't follow you. Sorry.
Love a bit of comedy, but also partial to a good (fictional) murder & the ensuing police procedural. Imagine getting both within an alternate history where the Norman conquest never happened. 1/2

Unbelievable. Donald Trump has been invited to a state visit to the UK. We should not be rolling out the red carpet to celebrate this man. Agree? Add your name to the petition today: you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/no...
No second state visit for Trump
This is UNBELIEVABLE. Keir Starmer has just handed Donald Trump a letter from King Charles, inviting him for a second state visit to the UK. It’s totally unprecedented, and I was so outraged when I he...

If you haven't watched #BigBoys you are missing one of the greatest bits of TV of the 21st century. Is that hyperbole? I don't think so. All 3 series available on C4 streaming. Comedy like this can address the big issues better than much 'serious' drama, maybe because it catches us unawares.
have joined blue sky cause I was bored of seeing Elon memes xxx big boys final series out on @channel4tv.bsky.social now 💕

Compared to defence spending, increasing funding for public service broadcasting costs a pittance, yet provides "defence" of our core beliefs, common institutions and social cohesion than divisions, submarines and missiles ever will.

Can’t be repeated often enough

‘The UK’s creative industries are vital to the economy. Valued at £124bn, they are worth more than the life sciences, aerospace and automotive industries combined. Arts and culture alone contribute an impressive £34.6bn.’

My first #ComicRelief #RedNoseDay launch last Wednesday, here with the founders & a few of my fellow trustees.
2025 is CR’s 40th anniversary & in that time it’s helped more than 100m people. But millions still need help in the UK and overseas so why not start thinking how you can be funny for money

The Seer = poisoned chalice. Also final banishments will always continue until just 2 left, whether there are suspicions or nor, simply to maximise the cash. #TraitorsUK

“Welcome to the Traitors Uncloaked, a visualised podcast.”

That’ll be a television programme then BBC. You’ve been making them for years. And you used to know how to hide microphones too.

If you are tempted to watch Angelina Jolie as Callas, don't do it. Rather watch this brilliantly made documentary on her life by Clare Beavan, and find out why she really lost her voice. 👇
Maria Callas: The Final Act
In this new film from Arena, a cast of musical experts and admirers uncover the truth about the Maria Callas myth and the gift of her extraordinary voice.

Late coming to #LaChimera, written & directed by #AliceRohrwacher. What a magnificent film. Orphic themes evident from the Monteverdi opening toccata but I think it owes as much to Cocteau as original myth. Seen no reviews mention Orpheus tho’ plenty of underworld talk. #JoshOConnor is such a star

I’ve clocked up more than 60 films for my #BAFTA voting. Did the big 2 yesterday, #TheBrutalist & #Anora Both excellent but nothing yet has moved me like #AllOfUsStrangers did last year.

I try to stay calm but it’s about now in the run-up to the 25th that I lose it over the plethora of snowflakes (on cards, wrap, decos) with 8 arms. They are hexagonal, people. It’s physics! #HappyChristmas

More unexpected pleasure from my BAFTA film viewing. #DriveAwayDolls, from Ethan Coen and Tricia Cooke, described as a ‘lesbian road trip’ movie uses very familiar tropes & has met with mixed reviews. It’s quite short (good) & slight(no probs) but I laughed out loud a lot and that’s quite rare.

“Don’t feed the trolls” also extends to bad opinion pieces in papers of record.

They run them bc people react to them the most.

If we stop linking to bad columns and instead post thinkers we find valuable (& generate convo around it), incentives change.

It’s not easy and takes constant practice!

Busy working my way through films for BAFTA voting. A few I’d recommend so far that you might not have come across include: The Teacher; Daughters; Speak no Evil; and The Apprentice. Surprised at how good the last was and it would stand up even if its subject was not a certain President-elect.

If you ever wonder, as a leader, whether it's worth the effort of growing your own talent, just witness the fabulous performances of #Kelleher, #Bradley & #Jones in last night's @lfcr.bsky.social victory over Real Madrid. The danger is in undervaluing them because you didn't pay a fortune for them.

#CaoimhimKelleher was man of the match for me, followed by Bradley and Jones. TBH they were all awesome, inc Mo. @lfcr.bsky.social
