as a Reds fan, it totally checks out. about ten years ago I realized I didn't need to care about the team like I always had since ownership clearly didn't. Was liberating. Sad, but liberating. Past age 50 now and no regrets on mentally walking away from caring.

At least they matched it - my growing up fan team is the Reds and they didn't even get over the Pirates' offer lol...

Really was nice to mostly stop caring a decade ago, really. 40 years was long enough it turns out, for me to finally understand how little ownership cared about the things I cared about when it came to the Reds. Once I got there, generally letting go was easy.

I know we are way early in the off-season, but kinda wild to see Woodruff go three rounds ahead of Eovaldi...I understand the skepticism that Eovaldi can repeat anything close to last year but I would still easily have him higher than Woodruff but maybe I need to re-visit...

Thanks so much! Did a 3-sport dynasty start-up draft in mid-August and am excited to see how what I drafted at that juncture is hitting in the early mocks for 2026...much appreciated for the column and the heads up on here.
