this may be janky but at the very least i can experiment with new methods of interaction and have everything properly integrated into 1 space!!

I'm working on Gaussian splatting actually, so layering is more easily achievable by putting gaussians in front or behind each other with different colors...

gsplats also have the nice natural property of looking impalpable by default and being inherently volumetric

so what do you think?

turns out gaussians can have a near zero cost fake motion blur :D

just orient them towards the direction of motion, move them to centerpoint between last frame and current frame, then stretch!! and don't forget to reduce the opacity :D

gaussian splatting isn't just for 3D reconstruction, it's its own art form!!!

you can also make it have super cool effects like making it heat up like a rocket thruster and unlike fixed particles it'll feel sharper
