I'm just here for the jokes
I'm possibly a bit overly excited that there's a main character named Tina in the book I'm reading. And she's very cool.

People in Japan will be saved from heat stroke or anemia by store clerks and then still give the store 4/5 stars on Google Maps.

When you think you've done all the paperwork there can possibly be and Japan somehow has more and you have to submit it in 7 business days

slowly realizing the book I'm reading is YA and not general audience

Book: She'd kissed her fair share of boys
Me: weird phrasing but whatever

Book: *characters not even kissing but breathing the same air*
Me: ok, anticipation or whatever

I was extremely proud of singing "Feliz 壁だ" when we passed by this wall, like it's basically the best joke I've ever made. Which should say something about the quality of my jokes

I know I can easily look it up, but I think that since internet culture is so international all recipes should include, at minimum, Celsius and Fahrenheit for oven temps

Doing research with an older Genx and they send you PDFs of a chapter (helpful) but each page is a separate, poorly scanned file

Got myself this beautiful gift. Snuggling into some blankets with some red wine for a good read. Been a hot minute since I read this book but I remember tears.

I live in a family of people who (unasked) like to throw in random history/linguists/geography facts and for some reason we always comment on the anniversary of the Edmond Fitzgerald. Anyway this year is the 50th anniversary of its sinking.

50 years ago, the Edmund Fitzgerald, a 'rock star' ship, sank in Lake Superior
Twenty-nine sailors drowned when the Edmund Fitzgerald went down in the Great Lakes' icy waters on Nov. 10, 1975. The ship was immortalized in a surprise hit 1976 folk ballad by Gordon Lightfoot.

The longer we live abroad the bigger the news disconnect bw me and the fam. If only they got their news from uncovering riddles on Tumblr I guess maybe we'd have some common ground. At least we'll always have Star Trek.

On a flight yesterday they had the option to listen to the Japanese Philharmonic Orchestra covering a bunch of classic monster movie themes and I had time to listen to the album 1.25 times.

Doing a bit of travel for fun (not work!) and it's so nice. The "hotel" we're staying out turned out to be a beautiful big house which we have all to ourselves.

Me: oh is that the new Charlie and the chocolate factory movie?

Student watching 2005 trailer: no, the old one

Me: let me clarify. Is that the archaic classic ᚲᚨᚱᛁᛚᚨᛉ and Ye Olde Mille?
