Nada contra cientistas (tenho até amigos que são), mas gostaria de ver a imprensa entrevistando mais urbanistas com propostas concretas de adaptação das cidades à crise climática porque isso dá um norte às pessoas sobre o que cobrar dos políticos, em vez de ficarmos apenas "oh, vamos todos morrer!".

My ex student (German boy who became a good friend of mine) referring to the (Brazilian) girl he's seeing as "boyzinha" (slang from Paraíba, Pernambuco and other NE Brazilian states).

The truth is I never felt this vulnerable in my life.

The rise of the far right is not an abstract subject. I will be unemployed fairly soon, then my visa expires. I'm unwelcome here and (professionally) useless in Brazil.

I try not to succumb in despair, but I've been failing...

I really hope Brazilian health authorities do not adopt the name "sloth fever" to refer to #OropoucheFever.

Hope the slaughtering of monkeys during the recent yellow fever crisis has taught us that the distinction between vector and reservoir needs to be done cautiously.
