I lecture about political science, social media and media & politics @ York University, I used to write a lot about music but I don’t so much anymore. I still watch too much tennis. He/him.
I finally saw Short Cuts in 70mm this week and you can’t convince me that Sia’s aesthetic isn’t based on Claire the clown.

Or his tour-de-force performance in The Secret Agent Club (yes, those are indeed Barry Bostwick and Richard Moll, and apparently Jack Nance is involved too).

Raul Malo had without a doubt the most extraordinary voice I ever heard in person, and the Mavericks are one of the great American bands of the last four decades.

Fuck cancer.

This is definitely about as cool as I would expect the British group of studio singers/musicians who recorded one of the very best Beach Boys soundalikes to look. youtu.be/oeGPpwFpIAA?...

His *taking credit* for Bonds’s performance in SFO is hilarious too. Yes, the guy with 3 MVPs (should’ve been 4) before playing with Jeff Kent and 2 more after playing with Jeff Kent really needed Jeff Kent to light a fire under him, says Jeff Kent.

A tourist on Reddit asked if everything will still be open in Québec City when it’s -5 (Celsius) outside and I can’t remember the last time I laughed this hard.

Yes, that would be Billy Joel’s Live From Long Island.

It could’ve been worse for Billy Joel fans. It could’ve been a full side of Attila.

So there was a Record Store Day release that unfortunately seems to be suffering from a widespread pressing issue and lots of listeners are getting a full side of Lil Durk.

See my next post for the reveal of the RSD album in question.

Am I crazy or does this stadium look like the spaceship from The Cat From Outer Space?

Who also pulled off the single most deranged ice cream grin in recorded history, in the same film no less!

This is what happens when you binge too many episodes of the Beatles Anthology.

I just saw the sad news that Italian tennis great Nicola Pietrangeli has died at the age of 92.

One of my top achievements ever as a tennis fan remains getting a selfie with Pietrangeli *at* the tennis court named after him (which is one of the most beautiful show courts in the world) in Rome.

It’s amazing how the newly « remastered » Beatles Anthology has made things worse even on something as minor as the lettering on a drum kit during a 1961 Lonnie Donegan performance. See how all the « e » become « o » on the Anthology footage (left) even as the picture *seems* altogether cleaner?

I really don’t think AI made the Disney+ version of the Beatles Anthology look better.
