Vigil by George Saunders is about a spirit guide helping a billionaire oil prick to the afterlife. Essentially, it’s a meditation on karma and listen, I worship Saunders, but maybe stop trying to make everything sooooo deep. Five stars though. He’s a genius.

Trump has been throwing racist shade at the Obamas for a long time. It’s nothing new. It’s just, more people are waking up to it. Which, again, how did you NOT know this.

This country is so rotten.

It's cool that I'm a writer with actual books and like nobody reads at all and possibly ever again.

Good thing I write for MONEY only.

The $250 million that Jeff Bezos paid for the Washington Post represents about 0.1% of his net worth. No one needed to be fired today.

Political upset: Democrat Taylor Rehmet defeats Republican Leigh Wambsganss for State Senate District 9 seat in Tarrant County
Democrats call the upset a warning sign for the GOP, saying Rehmet's victory shows voters are rejecting Republican policies even in longtime strongholds.

Tarrant County shakin'
Here is Konni Burton, a conservative former state Senator from the area who was a central part of the Tarrant County Tea Party, agreeing that a Rehmet win would be a 9.5 on the Richter scale.

‼️‼️ Still a lot TBD, but Rehmet is leading early vote count by **13 POINTS** in a district that Trump won by 17 points. I'll be updating in this thread throughout the night.
ICYMI: This Saturday, progressive Taylor Rehmet squares off against a billionaire-funded Christian nationalist for a +17 Trump state senate seat in Tarrant County, a hub of the far right. Rehmet already over-performed, and is confident he’s on the verge of a stunning upset in a bellwether county.
In Tarrant County, a Hub for the Far Right, a Democrat Seeks a Major Upset
In a runoff election for Texas Senate District 9, which has not elected a Democrat since 1991, Taylor Rehmet is betting his pro-labor message can flip disillusioned voters.

Denis Johnson in full Hemingway mode is so transcendent it basically counts as meditation. You can read Train Dreams then watch the movie in one day and absolutely should.

If I Had Legs I’d Kick You is a hard movie to like. It’s undeniably brilliant, anchored by a raging Rose Byrne, a stubborn refusal to comprise on anything ever and weirdly, Conan O Brien. I’ll never watch it again but it’s probably a masterpiece.
