I reviewed a paper recently. It was flawed & rejected. It later appeared unchanged in another journal.

So how is peer review a “gold standard”?

You can’t have a gold standard if people can’t tell the difference between gold and bauxite..

Methods question: I'm estimating an effect of a binary IV on a continuous DV.

Let's say there are 6 equally plausible model specifications that I can run. I run the 6 specifications and 4 out of the 6 specifications have p<0.05. The other two are not significant, but are in the same direction...

Does #randomization ensures balance of risk factors between groups? Consider this:

In Denmark 860 individuals were randomly allocated to either intervention or control. Individuals were unaware of their allocation. No intervention took place. Mortality was higher in the intervention group (p=0.003)
