I want to spell this out in case the implications aren't clear:

This means all public tools/webapps of GISAID data (all the ones you've been used to seeing thru the pandemic, as far as we can tell) are prohibited.

The file allowed this. Cut that - cut off all tools the public & others were using.
On Oct 1, 2025, GISAID informed us that they had ended updates to the flat file of SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences and associated metadata that we had used to update Nextstrain analyses since Feb 2020. GISAID's stated rationale was that their "resources are limited". 1/5

Good for him. He's turning out to be a quite decent guy. No you're not going to agree with him about everything but he's a good human being (so was Pope Francis) and he's been standing up to Trump, too.

The Vatican returned 62 artifacts to Indigenous peoples from Canada, a historic restitution that is part of the Catholic Church's reckoning with its role in helping suppress Indigenous culture.

These I draw every year I teach algebraic geometry (to be honest, for the ring I use C instead of R because the students must learn to draw R and see C)

I’ve flipped back and forth over whether Trump’s cognitive decline was from Alzheimer’s, like his father, or a more rapidly progressing disease, like frontal temporal dementia. The key may lie in his accelerating loss of impulse control—which is a classic symptom of FTD.
This may be Trump's perfect social media post. A true work of art. He confirms:

✅He personally directs criminal investigations.
✅He is targeting opponents.
✅Epstein "records" exist and he knows the contents.

Bonus points for connecting it to investigation of his fondness for Putin.👀

the oregonian is generally clickbait/trashwrites on anything with the smallest "moral" value, but this is not paywalled and is a very nice, free, slide show of civilians contesting militarization with nothing but humor, aerobics, and stretch pants.

rather nice.

let us remember the whig party, and the decades of work to prevent regional division and ultimately succession. neither republican nor democratic, neither north nor south.

we still live with the connecticut compromise, the bicameralism of 1789.
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

I’m about to fill my pockets with stones and walk into the sea.

Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.

1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.

Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.
